The Hartford Eagle is a philanthropic venture begun in 1994 as an occasional party called "In the Heat of the Night" by Bob Alim (better known as Bob A.) and Bob Boudreau (known as Bob B.) as a method to promote events within the Gay Community throughout the Greater Hartford Area as well as to raise money for the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective (HGLHC), The H.O.P.E. Foundation, the Imperial Court, the Gay & Lesbian Community Center and other various non-profits within CT.

Over the course of time, the parties and events expanded throughout CT and New England. With that expansion, "In the Heat of the Night" became the "Hartford Eagle" focusing primarily on providing events for the Leather / Bear sub-cultures within the Gay Community.

In 2000, the Hartford Eagle Party and the HGLHC joined forces and developed the first bar based health initiative in the state, introducing the Hep Squad education and inoculation program at the monthly parties. The Hep Squad program was modeled after a successful program in Seattle, Washington. This program has been expanded to include other STD education and testing programs at various bar sites throughout the state.

In 2002, Kevin Prior joined the Alim-Boudreau household and now all three men head up the activities and promotion of the Hartford Eagle events. Since the advent of the "Hep Squad" in 2000, the HGLHC has been the soul beneficiary of the philanthropic activities of Bob A., Bob B. and Kevin.  In the past 14 years our events have raised over $100,000 for charity.

All of the money raised at the Hartford Eagle events since that time have been donated directly to the HGLHC for funding of the Hep Squad, the "One Big Event" annual fundraiser and other support services.
